Cygnar vs Menoth (eHaley vs Thyra) 35pts - Battle Report

Time for another quick battle report. Got a chance to play against Menoth, which doesn't happen that often. The last couple of days I've just been playing around with some lists without really aiming for a win. So this time it's gonna be epic Haley with her favorite bonded-warjack, the Stormwall. The lists we're playing are:

Points: 35/35
Major Victoria Haley (*5pts)
* Stormwall (19pts)
* Squire (2pts)
Arcane Tempest Gun Mages (Leader and 5 (Grunts) (6pts)
* Arcane Tempest Gun Mage Officer (2pts)
Horgenhold Forge Guard (Leader and 9 Grunts) (8pts)
Journeyman Warcaster (3pts)

Points: 35/35
Thyra, Flame of Sorrow (*6pts)
* Redeemer (6pts)
* Reckoner (8pts)
Choir of Menoth (Leader and 3 Grunts) (2pts)
Daughters of the Flame (Leader and 5 Grunts) (5pts)
Exemplar Errants (Leader and 5 Grunts) (5pts)
Knights Exemplar (Leader and 5 Grunts) (5pts)
Eiryss, Angel of Retribution (3pts)
Exemplar Errant Seneschal (2pts)
Gorman di Wulfe, Rogue Alchemist (2pts)
Nicia, Tear of Vengeance (3pts)

(He also had 3 Wracks with him, which brought the list to 36 points, but since they never were used I will pretend that they never were present)

Setup

Setup:
The scenario today was "Close Quarter" from the Steamroller 2013 document. Either dominate your own flag or the opponents to score point. Simple. I won the roll and choose to be second player and picking the table edge and letting him be the first one to deploy and advance. I put the ATGM to counter his Daugthers of the Flame, and my Forge Guards to face his "weak" Errant arrows and blast damage from the Redeemer.

Turn 1

Mentoh - Stuff ran forward. Only the Daughters change their flank and moved down the middle instead of facing the ATGM. Thyra cast "Occulation" on the Daughters.

Cygnar - The units ran. Stormwall advanced and was just in reach for a Knight Exemplar which I shot and killed. Journeyman gave "Arcane Shield" to the Stormwall and eHaley cast "Deceleration".

Turn 2

Menoth - Thyra upkept Occulation and gave away some focus to the jacks. All his units ran forward, well within my upcoming charge range. Redeemer shot all his rockets at the Forge Guards, but only managed to kill one. Eyriss moved pretty far down my right flank, but still out of range for me to kill.

Cygnar - With all his units pretty far up and close together and saw my opportunity to feat. Stormwall advanced towards the Daughters and killed the entire unit with the help of the Stormpod and electro leaps. Haley advanced towards the flag and caught every single unit (except Eiryss) under her feat, she also cast "Deadeye" on the ATGM. The Gun Mages then advanced and killed all but 2 Knights Exemplar. Forge Guards moved up behind the Stormwall.

Turn 3

Menoth - Not much he could to this turn. Pretty much what he had left advanced forward. The two Knights Exemplar ended up in combat with the ATGM. The Reckoner moved into combat with the Stormwall and the Errants moved towards the Forge Guards. Redeemer managed to kill another 2 Forge Guards this turn since I hadn't cast "Deceleration". Thyra moved into the forest, again within range, this time for my Stormwall.

Cygnar - I hoped for a quick end to the game so I gave 4 focus to the Stormwall. Haley also moved into base contact with the objective and cast "Temporal Acceleration" on the Stormwall. The Stormwall then moved into combat with Thyra and went for the kill... or so I thought. I missed all my (boosted) attack rolls and only landed the last non-boosted one, and did 12 damage to her. ATGM tried to kill the Knights Exemplar but couldn't penetrate their armor, instead I used Thunderbolt to knock them down and away. Forge Guards charged the Errants and killed 3 of the and disabled the Seneschal.

Turn 4

Menoth - Thyra gave away 5 focus to her jacks (Reckoner got 2 and Redeemer 3). Knights Exemplar moved into combat with more ATGM and the Squire, which was hit and brought down to 1 box. Errants killed 3 Forge Guards and Eiryss was locked into combat with the Forge Guards and didn't manage to inflict any damage. Reckoner attacked Stormwall and did a couple of wounds. Redeemer moved up and tried to shoot a Haley but missed with all the shots, and the deviations went the wrong way to do any harm. Thyra backed away from the Stormwall and Gorman moved up and cast Black Oil on it.

Cygnar - Haley camped all her focus and took 1 extra from the Squire, then she moved up towards Thyra and cast "telekinesis" on herself to get LoS. Then she cast a single boosted "Time Bomb" which hit and killed The Flame of Sorrow.

Conclusion

I still don't think eHaley fit my style. I don't really like to "prevent" my opponent from playing his turn... it feels a bit like cheating. The Stormwall is just great with any Cygnar caster, but just a little bit better with Haley. I still haven't gotten around to see the power with the Forge Guards, but I still like them, and Haley give them a lot of extra support with Deceleration.

As for my opponent. This was the first time he played with Thyra and many of his units and solos. His biggest mistake was not really knowing what either Haley or Stormwall could do. He basically let me kill all his Daughters of the Flame for free, and then Haley got to affect his entire army with her feat. I still have a lot of respect for Menoth, because I know what they can bring to the battlefield.
